It’s finished with a dark slip that I’ve carved into to reveal the lighter clay underneath, creating a sharp, high-contrast look. Inspiration

The design is a nod to the winding, organic lines found in Persian art. I wanted to capture that sense of infinite flow without making the pattern feel too rigid or mechanical. By combining long, sweeping curves with clusters of dots, the plate has a sense of movement that changes depending on how the light hits the carved ridges. It’s a way of bringing a very old aesthetic into a modern, everyday object.

Conclusion

Because I carve these freehand, each plate has its own personality. You can see the slight variations in the depth of the lines and the spacing of the dots, which is what makes handmade ceramics so different from anything mass-produced.
