I used a black glaze this time, then carved the same style of curved lines and dots into it while it was still workable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDesign\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe carving itself carries the same idea as the rest of the series: curved lines and scattered dots meant to echo water in motion, carved freehand rather than planned out in advance. What changes this piece is the glaze. I applied a transparent layer over the black, and the combination softened it into more of a grey than a true black. This is something I didn't fully plan for, but ended up liking. It gives the carved lines a bit more depth, since the grey catches light differently depending on the angle, and it sits somewhere between moody and soft rather than flat and dark.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eConclusion\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 21cm across and 9.5cm deep, this bowl has enough depth for everyday use: food safe for serving, but equally suited to holding jewelry, keys, or anything else you want gathered in one place.
